Profile
Natalia Camden
My story begins in Poland in 1984, during a time when the echoes of martial law still shaped daily life. As a third-generation descendant of World War II survivors, I grew up deeply aware of the resilience, struggle, and sacrifice that run through my family’s history. My childhood was divided between Poland and Germany, experiences that instilled in me both a global perspective and a profound sense of adaptability.
In later years, my journey carried me across the ocean to the United States, where I pursued my passions for psychology, animal welfare, and equestrian life. Today, I am a forensic psychology student at Southern New Hampshire University, where I focus on exploring the intersections of trauma, resilience, and human behavior. My academic work is deeply personal, often informed by my lived experiences and my ongoing commitment to understanding the humanity within so-called “abnormality.”

Beyond the classroom, I have always been drawn to animals as both companions and healers. For many years, I owned and managed a horse ranch in the Adirondacks, where I cared for over 40 horses and ran a residential horseback riding program for girls. That work not only nurtured my love of horses but also gave me the opportunity to mentor young women, showing them the confidence and strength that can grow from the bond between horse and rider.

Today, my husband and I pour our hearts into our shared dream: The Florida Cat and Dog Project, a rescue we founded together. As a Marine Corps veteran, my husband has faced his own battles with resilience and identity, and in many ways, we rescued each other through love, compassion, and our shared devotion to animals. Together, we’ve saved dozens of cats and dogs, offering them safety, care, and the chance to thrive in forever homes. Our rescue is more than a mission - it’s a reflection of our values, our partnership, and our belief in giving second chances.

When I’m not studying, rescuing animals, or writing, you’ll find me outdoors - hiking trails, breathing in fresh air, and finding peace in nature. The outdoors is where I recharge, reflect, and feel most connected to the world around me.
At the heart of it all, I see my life’s work - whether in psychology, animal rescue, or mentorship - as an ongoing commitment to healing. Healing the wounds of history, healing the scars of trauma, and creating space for both people and animals to live with dignity, safety, and compassion.
